Careers

HomeWell Senior Care is hiring experienced CNA's!

New cases are coming in all the time, so please read below to find out about our highly selective hiring process. All of our caregivers are employees of our company. We do not employ any "contract" workers.

If you meet our requirements, please submit an application to get the process started!

What certifications do I need?
The majority of our cases involve personal care, and those cases are staffed with CNA's. We are looking for CNA's with at least 2 years of caregiving experience providing compassionate, in-home personal care and companionship for seniors. If you have an active CNA certificate, we can verify it online with the Virginia Board of Nursing. If you have taken CNA coursework and/or have significant experience, you may be able to quality for personal care work by passing a competency test which we administer as part of your interview process.

What if I have a Maryland GNA certificate?
If you are certified in Maryland, you must be a Geriatric Nurse Aide (GNA), not a CNA, in order to be eligible for endorsement in Virginia. Maryland CNA is not equivalent to Virginia's CNA designation. Contact the Virginia Department of Health Professions to obtain a reciprocal CNA certificate endorsement for Virginia. The process is very quick and easy and it's free! Download the form and instructions here.

What is the screening process?
After the interview, the screening process takes 1-2 weeks. Because of the sensitive nature of the type of work we do, we conduct an extensive background check including national criminal history, national sex offender registry, 3 personal references and 3 employment references. You will also be required to successfully pass a competency test and drug screening.

How selective are you in hiring?
We are highly selective in who we hire. We differentiate ourselves in this industry by providing exceptional, compassionate, reliable and trustworthy care. Our tremendous growth and success reflects that commitment. To uphold our high standards, we typically only hire approximately 20% of our applicants.

What criminal offenses prevent employment?
HomeWell is committed to safeguarding the welfare of its clients which includes vulnerable adults. Any felony conviction, barrier crime, crime against a person and most misdemeanor convictions will prevent employment with us. Please note that omitting criminal offense information or providing false or misleading statements on your employment application constitutes a misdemeanor offense under Virginia law. All information you provide us will be verified through the national criminal background check.

What documents are required for the interview?
We require that you present us with an original social security card or resident alien card as well as a driver's license or state-issued ID card. You must also have a tuberculosis screening within the past 12 months and provide documentation. All nursing certifications will be verified immediately using the Virginia Board of Nursing online database.

Why we're different?
We treat our people well and offer flexible work schedules. Tell us when and where you can work, and we will accommodate your schedule. Both hourly and live-in assignments are available, in all areas of Northern Virginia, as well as some rural areas.

How many hours will I get?
We will work within your availability, which you provide us on the employment application. Keep in mind that new employees may start with 4-hour shifts, and will need to prove to us your capability to be on time for your shifts and provide the highest quality care before being considered for longer shifts.

What we pay?
Your pay will primarily be based on the number of years of verifiable experience as a CNA. We pay weekly and pay a $50 referral bonus for every person you refer to us that we place on an assignment.

Where are the assignments?
We will put you on assignments as close to your house as possible. HomeWell is licensed to provide home care in the following Virginia localities: Alexandria, Arlington, City of Fairfax, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford.

How do I apply?
Send us your resume, copies of any certifications you have, a list of towns where you want to work, the days/times you are available for work, and a phone number where we can reach you to schedule an interview.
